I’m the only massage therapist in Portland that exclusively offers a unique massage that is part of an ancient holistic medical science from India, called Ayurveda. Ayurveda had a profound impact on me personally, so I wanted to meet the need for this special type of bodywork to make a difference in others’ lives too. The elements of Ayurvedic bodywork that I offer are called abhyanga, garshana, and vishesh.
Ayurvedic bodywork is effective for a variety of health challenges or maintaining current wellness in every aspect of being: physical, mental and emotional.
Ayurveda offers personalized solutions that take into account each individual’s unique constitution as well as their current state. I understand how to tailor your massage to your needs based on Ayurvedic principles.
I practice a classical style of Ayurvedic massage. The lineage was passed down to my teacher nearly 50 years ago at the Deepak Chopra Center in San Diego. When this massage is rarely offered elsewhere, it may simply be a more spa-like treatment, or combined with a mix of other styles. I’m grateful to have learned a traditional style, and to bring it to you in the highest quality way possible.
I’m honored to offer the magic of this massage to you.

Before Your Appointment
Plan to spend the rest of your day post-massage with as little stress and lack of strenuous activity as possible.
I encourage extra hydration before receiving massage - even the day before, if possible. Dress in comfortable clothing that you won’t mind getting some oil on, just in case. If you have medium/long hair, consider bringing a hair tie as you’ll likely have oil in your hair (unless you’re receiving Manual Lymphatic Drainage, which involves no oil.)
When You Arrive
Parking is free and ample in the lot, including handicap. On weekends days, please let front desk staff know you’ve arrived to see Ashley. I’ll meet you in the lobby at your appointment start time. Feel free to use the restroom while you wait.
On weekends, the front doors are locked led for security. Please text upon arrival and I’ll greet you at the door. 971-258-1034
I’ll take you to a clean, warm room with scents and sounds that will help you begin to relax before you’re even on the massage table. I’ll sit with you to learn about what you’re experiencing in your body that day. I wanna hear everything. Old and new injuries, pain, past experience (or none) with massage, and any needs/questions/concerns you have. Know that I always allow time before and after your massage so that neither of us feels rushed! I understand this is a new experience for some people, who have never before been asked by a massage therapist to have an in-depth conversation. This allows me to give you the care you need. Your comfort is a priority to me. I will do everything I can to help you feel safe and relaxed before, during, and after your massage.
During Your Massage
Every body is unique. I decide the appropriate type of oil and personalized aromatherapy to best serve you that day. I only use the highest quality and organic products.
I encourage feedback while I’m working, and I’ll ask for it during the session. Need more pressure? Less? More essential oil? The table warmer turned up or down? Want a change of music? No problem. I’m here to serve you. You can view your session as an opportunity to use your voice, and get your needs met.
When The Massage Ends
Once your massage has ended, I’ll step outside the room and give you some time to ‘wake your body up’ slowly, since massage can put you in a deeply relaxed state.
Before you head out, I may discuss exercises, stretches, or other self-care practices for use at home to continue your healing between visits. You can even come prepared with questions! I’m happy to be a resource on your healthcare team.
After you leave, drink plenty water. I’ll check in with you in the days after your session to see how you’re feeling after your massage and invite any questions that may have come up. I know you’re on a healing journey and I’m here to help.
After You Leave
If you received massage with oil, I suggest a shower after getting home, but NOT washing the oil off your body. The heat and moisture from the shower will continue to help the oil penetrate more deeply into your whole system. Feel free to wash certain areas as needed, such as underarms and hair. Or just leave it all on! Daily self-oiling is a highly regarded and recommended practice in Ayurveda. The oil is nourishing and doesn’t need to be removed.
An epsom salt bath can also be beneficial. Exercise is discouraged for the rest of the day after you receive massage, as it can override the effects of the treatment.

Tipping is included in the cost of service! There are many ways to express gratitude, such as referring a friend or leaving a positive review. I know this can be confusing because different practitioners handle tipping differently. I encourage you to continue tipping employees at other businesses. As always, let me know if there are any questions about this.
-
Not at this time, but I’m happy to provide a referral to others who do! If you’d like a recommendation, feel free to send me a message: hello@moonwisemassage.com
Or just reach out to let me know what insurance you have. This will help me consider what companies I may try to accept in future.

Yes. To encourage receiving regular care (because that’s truly where the best, longest-lasting results are found!), I offer discounted packages and memberships. Due to the discounted rate, there are a limited number of spots for these offerings. Please inquire to learn if there are available spots at this time: hello@moonwisemassage.com
Note: Receiving “regularly” means different things to different people. I’m happy to discuss what the most optimal cadence might look like for you; it will likely change over time. However, my recommendation is simply an option. You drive the ship and know yourself better than anyone else!
-
Nearly anyone! The only exceptions are people who are pregnant or during the first 3 days of menstruation.
My massage may help with even more than regular massage helps with. This is because it isn’t just focused on treating symptoms (such as back pain) or the musculoskeletal system, but instead deeply impacts your entire system treating every layer of your being.
To name just a few benefits of massage with me;
Increased energy AND relaxation simultaneously
Pain relief - chronic or localized
Stress relief
Enhanced clarity
Improved sleep
And so much more 🤍
Acknowledgments
My studio workspace rests on the unceded lands of the Clackamas, Cowlitz and Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde.
What we now call Portland, Oregon and Multnomah County are the ancestral lands of the Multnomah, Wasco, Kathlamet, Clackamas, Cowlitz, bands of Chinook, Tualatin Kalapuya, Molalla and many other Tribes who made their homes along the Columbia and Willamette Rivers.
I am on this land because of the forced removal of its traditional people by colonists and settlers.
As a white person of European descent who is a guest/settler on this land, I would like to recognize the native communities in my region and offer gratitude for their past and continued stewardship of these lands.
As a practitioner of Ayurvedic bodywork, I would also like to acknowledge the roots of what I practice.
This modality originated thousands of years ago in India. I work to respect and honor the origins of the massage style I practice by
continuing to learn
working to make bodywork accessible
and bringing light to the origins of what I practice
I am continually learning and adjusting how I practice bodywork. I welcome feedback any time about how I approach this.
